We all know that the Pakistani drama industry is growing day by day in terms of quality content, acting skills, OST music, and production, etc. However, we can’t compare it with previous drama serials which we used to see before. Are you thinking about blockbuster drama serials like Humsafar and Zindagi Gulzar Hai? No, let’s go back again and you’ll find a list of dramas to rewatch.

Here’s a top-five list of some of the classic, old but never forgotten dramas that represent Pakistani television and have stayed with us perpetually:

1) Alpha Bravo Charlie (1998)

This drama serial was aired on PTV which was directed by the much-admired Shoaib Mansoor. The theme of drama was based on action and thriller. It was so popular that it set a new rating for Television Rating Points (TRPS) in Pakistan. It follows the lives of three young, happy-go-lucky friends who have just joined the army, and teaches the very significant lesson of leading a determined and passionate life.

2) Tanhaiyan (1985)

Another trendy drama of those days, which was aired numerous times over the years due to its popularity. It revolved around two young women (sisters) taking up the traditional role of men – working jobs, running businesses, earning money and making a living – after their parents died and left them in severe arrears.

3) Ainak Wala Jin (1993)

Ainak Wala Jin was a magnificent blend of true life, fantasy and science fiction. 5) Ankahi (1982)

This drama is acknowledged for its humorous dialogues and the strong, appealing, blunt character of Sana (played by Shehnaz Sheikh). After being inspired by Ankahi, Bollywood released the movie Chal Mere Bhai in 2000 with the same storyline as the drama.

6) Dhoop Kinarey (1987)

This serial was written and directed by two of the most highly praised women in TV, Haseena Moin and Sahira Kazmi. However, Dhoop Kinarey is still considered one of the best Pakistani dramas.
